A new North Indian restaurant called Bikaneri is due to open next week in the Crescent unit that used to be Rossini’s in Hinckley. The Lancaster Road premises have been vacant for approximately two years, The Hinckley Free Press reported.

According to Google, the Bikaneri Bar and Restaurant will open its doors for the first time on Tuesday, April 5. In recent weeks, renovations have taken place in the unit, next to Hinckley’s Tarro Lounge.

The team behind Bikaneri is Marwar Caterers, who have struck a deal with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to return the building to service after two years. The restaurant’s website states, “Come and spend a relaxed afternoon with your friends or family. Order a few drinks and have a good time.

“From the spices used to the cooking methods, Bikaneri strives to bring you the taste of India, right here at Hinckley. With top chefs and great recipes, you can experience the flavors of North India. “

Dishes on the menu include paneer tikka shaslik, samosa chaat, tandoori chicken wings, amritsari fish pakora, and giant grill Bikaneri, which offers a selection of chicken and lamb dishes.

The venue will accommodate private parties for up to 45 people at a time. The restaurant will be open to the public from noon to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

The word Bikaneri refers to the inhabitants of Bikaner, a city in the state of Rajasthan, in northern India. Bikaner is known for its culture, as well as its rich taste in food and spices.

Last month, Savitri Bhamu of Marwar Caterers told the Hinckley Free Press that the food would be different from most Indian restaurants in the area. She said: “We chose Hinckley as we believe there is a potential gap in the market for North Indian Rajasthani food as there are currently mainly Bengali, Nepali and South Indian restaurants.

“We chose The Crescent because we believe it is a prime location with high footfall. We believe our restaurant will be a great addition to The Crescent.
