Indian restaurant Curry Up in San Francisco now opens in Austin

San Francisco Indian chain restaurant Curry Up Now quietly opened its first restaurant in Austin this summer. Restaurant 3100 Esperanza Crossing, Suite 130 at Domain Northside opened in early July. The menu includes chaats, burritos, thalis and loaded naans, among other dishes. The new restaurant appears to have taken over a location from salad chain Mad Greens, which closed in 2021. Its hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, then 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. Take-out and delivery orders can be placed on line; there are food services inside.

The Chinese vegan Plow Bao truck is closing this month because owner and COO Joyce Ni is leaving Texas. His last day of service will be Saturday, August 20.

Looks like the Dallas chain Velvet Taco is opening a Round Rock restaurant, as reported by Community impact. It is located at 211 North. AW Grimes Boulevard in 2023.

Cider and beer specials

Austin Eastciders and Austin-based hot sauce company yellow bird have teamed up to create a special cider. Habanero Pineapple Cider is a combination of Eastciders popular pineapple cider with Yellowbird’s habanero hot sauce. The drink is available at Eastciders’ two tasting rooms on Barton Springs and Springdale roads right now.

Austin’s Zilker Brewing Company is creating a special version of its Parks & Rec beer for the 30th anniversary of the non-profit Austin Parks Foundation. Beer is available at retailers like HEB and Central Market, as well as the brewery bar. A portion of the proceeds from the box will go to the nonprofit.
