An INDIAN restaurant in Glasgow has won a prestigious award.

Charcoals, in Trongate, has been voted ‘Best Glasgow & West of Scotland establishment” at the annual Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland).

The event, organized by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF) with Just Eat as main sponsor, was held at the Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh last night.

Charcoals bosses took to Facebook after their victory.

They wrote: ‘Thank you all as we won an award at the Asian Curry Awards in Edinburgh.

The awards program recognizes Scotland’s best-loved Asian restaurants.

More than 60 establishments were in the running for an award in the final with the shortlist determined by more than 10,000 votes from members of the public.

The pre-selected establishments were all visited by an ACF jury which determined the winners in seven national and nine regional award categories.

Yawar Khan, ACF President, said: “We heartily congratulate the winners of the sixth annual Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland). They are recognized as some of Scotland’s finest dining establishments and are all great ambassadors for Asia. food sector.

“Asian restaurants contribute £5 billion to the economy and employ over 100,000 people across the UK.

Charcoals was the only establishment in Glasgow to win an award.
