Indian restaurant in Oxford nominated for restaurant of the year award

An Indian restaurant in Oxford has been nominated for gong Restaurant of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony in London.

Spice Lounge, in Banbury Road, Summertown, has been nominated for Restaurant of the Year – South Central at the 2022 Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards (ARTA).

The coveted awards recognize the UK’s best South Asian cuisine in a range of prestigious regional and national categories, with gongs including National Champion of Champions, Regional Restaurant of the Year and Takeaway and newcomer of the year.

The winners will be announced at a red carpet event at the InterContinental Hotel at The O2-London on October 2.

The event will be hosted by journalist and host Samantha Simmonds and magician and famed Magic Circle member Paul Martin.

Mohammed Munim, founding member and CEO of ARTA, said: “Britain has some of the most vibrant and dynamic Asian restaurants, and they are an integral part of the fabric and culture of the country.

The UK curry industry brings in £5 billion a year and today there are more Indian restaurants in Greater London than in Delhi and Mumbai combined.
