“It’s always quite humbling to be recognized first and then to win something is an absolutely great feeling, especially after what the industry has been through in the last year and a half. It’s an incredible feeling to go this far, let alone win, ”said co-owner Zak Khan.
Mr Khan, who also runs The Switch cafe, thanked his staff for their hard work on it.
“Without the basic unit of staff that we had, it wouldn’t have been possible to trade all the way through the lockdownlet alone, thrive and go through it and earn something, so as cliché as it sounds, it’s thanks to the great team we have. ”
This isn’t the first time the restaurant has won a Curry Life Award, and in 2019 Zyka was shortlisted as Best Newcomer at the British Curry Awards.
They were nominated for this year’s British Curry Awards in the Best Delivery Restaurant category.
