Mattel’s new Barbie doll features an Indian businesswoman; check details here

It is every girl’s dream to own a huge collection of Barbie dolls. However, these dolls have met certain beauty standards until very recently. Later, however, Barbie is working to ensure more diversity in its product catalog.

Barbie doll maker Mattel has created a Barbie doll of an Indian businesswoman for the first time. The one-of-a-kind Barbie doll was created in collaboration with Deepica Mutiyala, founder and CEO of makeup brand Live Tinted. Mutiyala took to her Instagram to share photos of Barbie doll wearing a pantsuit with jhumkas and bracelets.

She wrote: “Meet the Barbie of 2022. Her skin is tinted, her eyes wide and her eyebrows bold. She proudly wears her jhunkas and bracelets with her power suit. She is ready to take on the world. His identity is his. It breaks down cultural barriers; aim high with intention. Lead with empathy and kindness. A fearless go-getter with a deep desire to make an impact in the world. She is CEO. It’s the new Barbie.

She further wrote in her post, “It was so important to me that young girls see a South Asian American Barbie, blazing her own trail and turning her dreams into reality by being unapologetically herself. Although this doll is not (yet) for sale, I am grateful that this visual representation exists. It’s the next step towards our mission to create a more inclusive world for the next generation.
