HUNDREDS of tributes flooded social media on Sunday August 14 after news broke that legendary Indian business tycoon Rakesh “Big Bull” Jhunjhunwala died at the age of 62 following cardiac arrest.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, who was a popular Indian billionaire business tycoon, stock trader and investor, was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at around 6.45am after suffering cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Jhunjhunwala, who grew up in a family in Rajasthan, Bombay, where his father worked as an income tax commissioner, managed his own portfolio as a partner in his asset management company, Rare Enterprises.

Known as the Big Bull of Dalal Street, Jhunjhunwala was worth around $5.5 billion.

He was the founder of Akasa Air.

His passing was mourned in India this morning after the heartbreaking news.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter: “Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was indomitable. Full of life, witty and insightful, he leaves behind an indelible contribution to the financial world. He was also very passionate about India’s progress. His passing is saddening. My condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanthi.

“No one can predict the market, death, the market and women. – Rakesh jhunjhunwala. Rest in peace the king of the stock market. Prayag wrote.

Tania Aneja wrote: “Whatever you can do or dream of doing, start it. Boldness has genius, power and magic.” Rest In Peace, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala Sir. You will be missed.”

One person wrote: “The last words of #RakeshJhunjhunwala, ‘No one can predict time, death, market and women’, Om Shanti. End of the bulls. Remember your friends while winning rat races, be sure to take care of your physical health, maintain your weight, eat healthy, have a healthy lifestyle.

One person said: “Sad to hear of the passing of #RakeshJhunjhunwala. In the few encounters I have had with him, he has come across to me as a jovial guy, happy to share his knowledge of the personality type. I had the benefit of his guidance when I started my entrepreneurial innings. Cheers to a life lived king-size.

“You can call me a fool, you can call me anything, I may not live to see it but I can tell you one thing: India will overtake China in the next 25 years.” India’s legendary Big Bull Rakesh Jhunjhunwala said so last year. And India will overtake both China and the United States. Om Shanti 🙏🏾,” wrote another.

And another person said, “Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was one of the few capitalists in India who openly celebrated ideology. Showed optimism towards India’s history. A convinced and unconditional nationalist. And an inspiration to millions. His departure on the eve of #IndiaAt75 is even sadder. Oh Shanti! 🙏🏾”
