An Indian restaurant in Oxford has been awarded a place in the Michelin guide after just one year of opening.
Bhoomi Kitchen on London Road in Headington is one of only six restaurants in Oxford to feature in the 2022 guide.
The Indian restaurant is also the first Indian restaurant in Oxford to feature in the guide.

Owner Michael Raphel said, “It was a dream come true to open a restaurant in a city close to my heart. Now, for Michelin to recognize the detail of what we are doing so quickly is a huge honor.
“We opened in August 2020 and closed shortly due to a 7 month lockdown. For this reason, it was very difficult to expand the business.
“Despite all this, we very quickly managed to attract a legion of loyal and regular customers. We have lots installed for 2022 for our customers and we can’t wait for the future.”
Bhoomi Kitchen serves dishes inspired by the southwestern state of Kerala, including one-pot curries, Masala Dosa and Keralan-style barbecues.
Last year the restaurant defied the challenges of Covid-19 to open.
Mr Raphel told the Oxford Mail at the time that he was “optimistic” about the restaurant’s future.
