Upscale Indian restaurant Mahal opens in Roslyn Heights

mahal, a new Indian cuisine restaurant has opened in Roslyn Heights and offers modern Indian cuisine in a grand setting. The restaurant has already had a soft opening and is planning a ribbon cutting and grand opening for the second week of February.


The restaurant has been under construction for fourteen months, following the challenges that have plagued many other places during the pandemic. Seasoned restaurateur Paramjit Josan and Chef Santokh Singh have opened Mahal Restaurant in a newly renovated facility of over 8,500 square feet. space at 290 Glen Cove Road, between Kennedy Road and Harbor Hill Road.


“Mahal brings together touches of old-world charm and luxury with modern sensibility and functionality,” reads a statement posted by the owners on LongIsland.com.


They say their new venture is inspired by rich Indian heritage and royalty, a varied traditional inspired cuisine is reimagined into modern Indian cuisine by an experienced team.


Chef Singh has thirty years of experience in the kitchen, spending the last fifteen as head chef at Tamarind Tribeca in New York.


“The chef is passionate about making everything from scratch and sourcing the best possible ingredients selected with sustainability in mind and with a focus on local suppliers,” the statement describes Singh’s cooking style. “A keen appreciation for the history of Indian cuisine plays a big role in the style and flavors he brings to the table at Mahal Restaurant.”


The restaurant features lavish interiors, a 90-seat dining room, full bar, cocktail lounge, and a private room that can accommodate parties of 35 to 125 people.
